Dubbed the alt-design equivalent of the Venice Biennale by the New York Times, the Renegade Craft Fair has grown to over three times its original size with events now happening in three different cities besides its hometown of Chicago. Attracting hundreds of vendors, tens of thousands of shoppers and more than a few design tastemakers, the event has become a much-anticipated fall shopping experience.

Dubbed ‘the most influential tastemaker on the music scene’ by Wired Magazine, the Pitchfork Music Festival is a two-day event showcasing 41 of independent music's best bands and artists on three stages. Artists include Cat Power, Girl Talk, Of Montreal, and Iron & Wine. Pitchfork also hosts an indie design and craft fair as well as showcasing the finest in rock poster design.

Learn the fundamentals of permaculture design - a system of assembling the essential components of the human habitat in an integral organic pattern that benefits humans, animals, and plants in a particular region.

FREE PUBLIC PROGRAM
This three-hour free workshop involves direct experience of designing from the point of view of the body. Somatics (a combination of sensory, psychological, and cultural awareness) and experiential anatomy are briefly explained, and then experienced through a carefully crafted sequence of exercises. Group discussion about design implications for all scales, from object to building to landscape, concludes the workshop.

Celebrating San Francisco’s unique built environment and design community, Architecture and the City is the first festival of its kind in the Bay Area to feature architectural tours, film screenings, exhibitions, design lectures, home shows and more. The Monolith Music Festival, held in the majestic Red Rocks amphitheatre, aims to present an environmentally responsible event in keeping with its natural environment. Featuring artists such as Justice, Vampire Weekend, Band of Horses, and many others, the festival has also embarked on its own reforestation project of the surrounding area, and will offset its carbon footprint with the purchase of Renewable Energy Credits.

Produced by Noisepop Industries, Treasure Island presents the cream of the crop of independent musical acts and gives them a spectacular setting in the center of the San Francisco Bay.
