Ground Glass Photography
Here’s a great way for thrifty film loving photographers to get all the analogue with none of the expense of film. It’s a bit of a balancing act but essentially all you do is use a top viewing medium format camera to focus on a subject and then train the lens of a digital camera onto the ground glass or viewfinder. No need to spend tons of dough on expensive equipment since cheap 50’s era box cameras and medium-priced digital cameras with a good macro function work best.
I have seen many examples of this technique but no one beats the beautiful colour and style consistently produced by Mr. E.
More tips on techniques, post processing tricks, and inspiring images can be found in Flickr groups on the subject such as Through the Viewfinder or Ground Glass.
